ABCTV features AWC’s Kalamurina Wildlife Sanctuary
From Kalamurina Wildlife Sanctuary which is on the Northern side of Lake Eyre, Paul Lockyer reports on the floodwaters which have recently arrived. This is a once in a decade event with great ecological significance for one of Australia's most iconic landscapes. We hear from AWC's CEO Atticus Fleming and Land Manager Joseph Schofield.
Kalamurina was purchase by AWC in December 2007, with assistance from supporters all around Australia and major partners the Australian Government and The Nature Conservancy. At 667,000 hectares (1.65 million acres), Kalamurina is Australia's largest non-government protected area.
